Alfalfa seed fertility is one of the research priorities of new funding from the Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee.
With $35,000 in grant money available, the Montana Alfalfa Seed Committee has put out a call for projects, applied research and feasibility studies addressing needs and opportunities of the state’s alfalfa seed industry.
The committee is most interested in research on alfalfa seed fertility, including micro- and macro-nutrient levels and the timing of fertilizer applications. Studies on increasing the health and production of alfalfa leaf cutter bees are also encouraged.
The application deadline is March 14. For proposal requirements, click here. For more information, call Angelyn DeYoung, Montana Department of Agriculture, at 406-444-5424.
