Fewer Dairy Cows Culled In April

A few more dairy cows were around to eat dairy hay last month, according to the latest USDA Livestock Slaughter report. The report shows that 213,000 dairy cows were culled in April, 17,000 fewer than in March but 43,000 more than during April 2006. A total of 873,000 cows were removed from the U.S. dairy herd during the first four months of 2007, 124,000 more than during the same period last year.
