Michigan Forage Conference Is March 8
Forage and grazing research and technology will be the focus of the March 8 Forage Technology Conference at Michigan State University, East Lansing. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Room in Kellogg Center.
Topics will include updates on falcata alfalfa and on establishing Roundup Ready alfalfa, the potential of growing forage crops for bio-energy and using manure as an alfalfa fertilizer.
Breakout sessions will discuss organic hay, foliar fertilization on alfalfa, hay marketing, mower-conditioner adjustments and wide swathing to speed drying, grass-legume ecology research, biodiversity in pastures and winter grazing for optimal profits.
