North Dakota's Drought Cycle Breaks

Consistent rain throughout North Dakota this year has broken a 6 1/2-year drought, the state climatologist says. North Dakota soils had been under some degree of drought since December 2000. In comparison, the state experienced its 10th wettest spring and sixth wettest May since 1895. Fargo has received 14" of precipitation -- 5.98" above normal -- since Jan. 1.
