Fertilizer best practices and new products will be discussed Feb. 22 at the East Texas Pasture Management Program by Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Texas A&M Extension forage specialist based in Overton.
“Every year, products come out that seem too good to be true, but in times of crisis, as during a drought, we seem to see a lot more of them,” Corriher-Olson says. “And often, as they are ‘new,’ these are the first products seen when you walk into the feed store.” She will evaluate products debuting in 2013 and tell how producers can make their own product evaluations.
Other talks will include: “Effective Weed Control With Weed Identification, Proper Timing And Herbicide Selection;” “How To Determine And Adjust Stocking Rates;” and “How To Use The Herbicide Cost Comparison CD;” and “External Parasite Control.” Jason Banta, AgriLife Extension beef cattle specialist, will also be a speaker.
The management program is scheduled for 12:30-6 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Overton. Attendees can earn continuing education units.
