Grazing Lands Conference Set For Dec. 13-16

Producers and grazing management experts for all species of livestock from across the country will be speaking at the Dec. 13-16 National Conference on Grazing Lands.

The event, sponsored by the Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative (GLCI) along with the Society for Range Management, will be held at Nugget Casino Resort in Reno-Sparks, NV.

On Dec. 13, regional GLCI meetings will be held in the afternoon and an Exhibitor's Trade Show reception that evening.

Concurrent workshop sessions will be held throughout Dec. 14-15 and the morning of Dec. 16. Speakers will include Missouri grazier and author Greg Judy discussing the benefits of holistic, high-density grazing; University of Nebraska holistic grazing management specialist Terry Gompert talking on the power of stock density; Don Ball and Garry Lacefield, Auburn University and University of Kentucky forage specialists, discussing forage management that beats the odds; and animal behavior specialist Darrell Emmick on foraging behavior and diet selection in the grazing dairy cow.

Presentations on grazing with goats, focusing on legumes, rotational grazing management and much more are on the schedule.

An evening banquet will be held Dec. 14, featuring cowboy entertainer Dave Stamey. For more information or to register for the conference, visit www.glci.org.
