The joint Manitoba Grazing School and Manitoba Forage Symposium will be held Dec. 5-7 at the Victoria Inn, Winnipeg.

The Dec. 5-6 grazing school will focus on livestock marketing and what ranchers need to excel in today’s business environment, among other topics. The first day, Leonard Wulf of Wulf Limousin Farms, Morris, MN, and McLaughlin, SD, will talk about the strategies he uses to select the right market for the best price.

The next day’s keynote speaker will be Charley Orchard of Land EKG Inc., a Bozeman, MT, company that diagnoses producers’ land and offers innovative grazing, monitoring and management techniques to improve productivity. Other sessions will cover how sugars in forages can affect animal performance, what grasses dairy cattle want in their diets, marketing opportunities and a forage research update.

The Dec. 7 symposium will include the experiences of an international forage-product exporter in marketing to Middle-Eastern customers, sugar concentrations in forages and alfalfa production tips.
