A steering committee of Wisconsin custom forage harvesters and extension agents has taken initial steps toward forming a state custom operators organization.

Its goals would include, among other things, to track questionable accounts and develop standardized contracts. Debt collection is a big concern among custom harvesters on the committee.

The group will be open to all custom farm operators. Its organizers hope the first annual meeting will be held next winter, perhaps in conjunction with the state forage council and custom manure haulers meetings.

For more information, call Doug Sutter (920-391-4612) or Kevin Jarek (920-832-5119), ex-tension agents in Brown and Outagamie counties, respec-tively, or Stuart Sorenson (888-758-2467) of 0 & S Harvesting, Bonduel.
