The use of perennial grasses, including miscanthus, for energy production will be the focus of the morning session of the March 8 Biomass Crop Production Workshop, to be held at Southwestern Community College in Creston, IA.
Other morning topics will include species selection and agronomics and potential markets. The afternoon session will feature presentations on fuels and chemicals made from biomass as well as federal support for bioenergy programs.
The workshop, sponsored by Iowa State University Extension, USDA-NRCS, Southern Iowa Resource Conservation and Development Area and SynGest, will run from 8:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
