The South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA) is accepting applications from producers for about 580 donated bales of 2012 CRP mid-term management hay. Rather than destroy the baled residue, producers were allowed to donate it to SDDA by USDA’s Farm Security Administration.

Producers in South Dakota counties impacted by last month’s historic blizzard are eligible to receive limited quantities of the hay. SDDA will coordinate the donation effort between CRP participants and livestock producers. Recipients will be responsible for transportation expenses and arrangements.

Producers receiving the hay will be selected based on the number of applications received, the amount of hay available and need. The application deadline is 5 p.m., CDT, on Nov. 15.

Applications can be filled out online. For more information, contact Jamie Crew at 605-773-4073.
