If you weren’t able to attend the 2013 Western Alfalfa & Forage Symposium in Reno, NV, you’re still in luck. Videos, PowerPoints and proceedings papers of nearly every session have been posted on University of California Extension’s alfalfa and forage website.
Among topics covered at the two-day meeting were hay-price forecasts, dairy-industry developments and long-term trends for hay exports. There were also presentations on pest management, water challenges facing Western producers, preventing hay fires, producing quality hay for the horse market and more. In all, this year’s symposium featured 35 speakers and more than 70 trade show exhibits. Nearly 600 people attended.
