Forage Corn Produces Like ‘A Jungle,’ Researcher Says

Ron Kaufman planted six rows of MasterGraze in a test plot last spring. He didn't harvest it, but was impressed with the amount of vegetation it produced. It only grew a little more than 6' tall, but each plant had four to 10 stalks.

“It's a jungle; you can't walk through it,” says Kaufman, crop researcher with Verity Farms, an alternative ag company based in Maurice, IA. Asked if he'd suggest that growers try it, he answered, “Definitely, if they want a grazing corn or something to cut early and plant something else behind.”
