Mycogen Releases Two New Alfalfas

Mycogen Seeds claims its two newest alfalfa varieties – 4L377 and 4O424 – offer good winterhardiness and high yield potential.

Adapted to a wide range of environments, 4L377’s disease index rating is 28 out of 30, plus it’s resistant to pea aphids and spotted alfalfa aphids. Its fall dormancy rating is 3.7 and its winter survival score is 2.1. In addition, it scores 8 on a nine-point scale for speed of cutting recovery.

Mycogen’s 4P424 has most of the same qualities, plus potato leafhopper resistance. Its disease resistance rating is 30 and it’s resistant to pea aphids. Its fall dormancy rating is 4.1 and it scores 2.4 and 7.5, respectively, for winter survival and cutting recovery.
