The California Alfalfa & Forage Association (CAFA) is working to get Section 18 approval for the use of Steward insecticide for armyworm control.

According to CAFA, armyworms are out of control in parts of the state. Some growers are still plagued by the worms despite multiple insecticide applications and tank mixes. Fields have been sprayed up to five times.

The hardest-hit locations include the Dos Palos area of Merced County and western Fresno and Kern counties, says CAFA.
