Barrel Medic May Benefit Alfalfa
A close relative of alfalfa may help scientists improve the crop's forage quality, disease resistance and nitrogen-fixing ability.
Researchers at the universities of California-Davis and Minnesota and at the Noble Foundation are using genetic markers in barrel medic to search for similar or identical genes in alfalfa. The four-year project is funded by a National Science Foundation grant.
