Hybrids Fit For A Herd

A new program that helps dairy producers choose corn silage hybrids has been introduced by Syngenta Seeds.

Dairy Ration Fit is the brainchild of Jim Beck, Syngenta's silage sales development manager. He found, in meeting with farm workers, that people working for the same operation often weren't on the same page nutritionally. By working with a farm's management team, Beck and other facilitators help find middle ground in deciding which hybrids help produce the most milk.

Tested on 24 Midwestern farms, Dairy Ration Fit rates hybrids on silage quality characteristics that lead to high milk output, such as NDF digestibility and kernel texture.

Developed for the company's NK Brand hybrids, it'll work for other brands, too.
