La Crosse Seed’s Forage First® brand is a participant in the new National Alfalfa & Forage Alliance U.S. Alfalfa Farmer Research Initiative Checkoff.

The program, launched in January, offers an opportunity for U.S. alfalfa growers purchasing eligible Forage First alfalfa products or other participating brands to make a commitment of $1 per bag to public research supporting the industry.

100 percent of checkoff funds will be spent on public research into alfalfa seed and alfalfa forage systems including research into yield improvement, water conservation, development of new storage and harvest systems, creation of new uses and more.

“As a forage leader for 70 years, we have always been committed to research and innovation, and we look forward to continuing that effort through this program,” said Dan Foor, CEO at La Crosse Seed.

La Crosse Seed will facilitate payment of the checkoff for purchases of participating alfalfa seed. Eligible Forage First alfalfa products include FF 4319.A2 RR, FF 42.A2 and FF 42.LH. Growers purchasing these products from La Crosse Seed’s dealer network are supporting the check-off through their purchase.
