KUHN recently awarded Kaitlyn Basehoar of Littlestown, Pennsylvania, and the first winner of the KUHN Model GMD 280 Golden Giveaway, with a new disc mower for her family’s farm. Basehoar’s name was drawn from a pool of thousands of entries received in the first half of 2017. The “Golden Giveaway” is KUHN’s promotion to celebrate its 50th anniversary of pioneering and continually innovating disc mower technology.

Basehoar’s husband, Jared, is the 7th generation to work on his family’s Crystal Spring Farm, located about 100 miles west of Philadelphia. His father, Millard, is the farm’s primary owner. They currently grow soybeans, corn, hay, wheat, and straw, and sell beef. When asked what her role on the farm is, Basehoar said with a beaming grin, “farmer’s wife.” She elaborated and explained she does pitch in with the chores. “I do whatever I can to help, especially with hay and straw.” When she received the call telling her she had won the Golden Giveaway, Basehoar said her whole family was looking forward to the delivery of the KUHN GMD 280. “I think the guys are more excited than I am,” she joked.

The Basehoar’s were given their choice of dealership to receive the mower from, and immediately chose Hoober, Inc., out of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Hoober is part of a nine-store chain of dealerships serving the Mid-Atlantic region of the country. Kuhn North America Territory Manager John Hartman and Hoober representatives played pivotal roles in getting the mower set up and delivered to the Basehoar’s. Present for the reception were Kaitlyn and Jared Basehoar, their children, Grant and Bailey, Jared’s parents, Millard and Jaqueline Basehoar, John Hartman, and Hoober, Inc. co-owner Chuck Hoober, among others.

The second entry pool for the KUHN Model GMD 280 Golden Giveaway opens in July and closes in October, with opportunities to enter at select farm shows across the United States. The second winner will be selected on or around November 6, 2017, and will be given their choice of a free KUHN GMD 280 disc mower or $10,000 towards the purchase of a higher-priced GMD or FC machine. The full contest rules, as well as a list of selected shows can be found at: www.KuhnNorthAmerica.com/us/news-golden-giveaway.html.
