T. G. Schmeiser Acquires Ownership of The Smart-Till® Product Line |
T. G. Schmeiser Co., Inc. announces that it has recently acquired the Smart-Till product line on July 1, 2015 from HCC, Inc. of Mendota, Illinois. The purchase includes all assets and trade names associated with the Smart-Till product line and its associated parts and components. Over the next weeks, relocation of all manufacturing and administration operations will be shifted from Illinois to the newly constructed Schmeiser manufacturing facility in Selma, CA. Smart-Till’s unique design allows it to fracture the soil more than 8” deep, with little surface disturbance. Its effectiveness comes from its two phases of tine action – ENTRY, or soil displacement, and FRACTURE, when force is applied. The process creates improved air and water exchange, offering many benefits for different applications including vertical tillage and aerating the soil. T. G. Schmeiser President, Andrew Cummings is excited about buying a quality product line offering great potential. He states, “We look forward to building and expanding upon what HCC has accomplished so far with the product line while expanding that technology into other T. G. Schmeiser product lines.” He sees potential for the Smart-Till product line to offer water conservation benefits during this time of severe drought. According to Cummings, “Using the Smart-Till to open the soil in pasture, alfalfa, or cover crop ground, creates slits while lifting the soil without terribly disturbing the plants. When it does rain, the soil will be ready to receive the water more readily as opposed to the rain washing away over the severely dry top layer of soil.” T. G. Schmeiser Co., Inc. is a privately held company. For over 80 years, this third generation family-owned business has been manufacturing and delivering versatile solutions for progressive soil management. Equipment is designed to work in conjunction with many other farm implements to help save time and money. Since 1929, years of proven performance in the demanding agricultural arena also have brought efficiency and reliability for other specialized soil management needs. |
