Tall fescue varieties characterized

By Mike Rankin, Managing Editor

A team of forage educators and graduate students at North Carolina State University authored and released a paper that compares commercially available novel endophyte tall fescue varieties, a popular endophyte-free variety, and Kentucky 31. The white paper is now available on the Alliance for Grassland Renewal’s website.

The information provided for each variety includes its story of origin, leaf type, time to maturity, and target market or adaptation region. Recommended approaches for renovating toxic tall fescue pastures are also outlined in the document.
