Wisconsin sale reports increased demand, steady to higher market

Premium quality alfalfa large square bales brought $152.50 to $177.50 per ton at the Tim Slack Auction & Realty hay sale in Lancaster, Wis., on June 26. According to their website, buyer numbers increased from the previous week and prices were steady to $20 per ton higher.

Good quality large square bales of alfalfa hay brought $110 to $117.50, but similar quality for large rounds was only $65 to $70 per ton. Lower quality hay ranged from $20 to $97.50 per ton. Large round grass hay bales brought $70 per ton.

Straw sold for $30 to $43 per large square bale.
