Hay feeders prevent waste and can save horse owners some serious money, according to a University of Minnesota (U of M) study. U of M equine specialist Krishona Martinson and colleagues compared nine hay bale feeders using 25 horses in a 40-day trial. Round bales of orchardgrass hay were fed and the waste measured. Each of the nine feeders is featured here, including the percent of hay waste, feeder price and payback. For our story on the study, click here.
