Six forage seminars will be held during the 2004 World Dairy Expo, to be held Sept. 28-Oct. 2 at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI.

The seminars, in the World's Forage Analysis Superbowl display area within the Arena Building, are scheduled as follows:

Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m. — “Fiber Digestibility: Lab Analysis and Cow Performance,” Hans Jung, USDA-ARS, St. Paul, MN, and Jim Linn, University of Minnesota.

Sept. 30, 10:30 a.m. — “Western Alfalfa and Corn Silage Production: Regional Perspectives,” Neal Martin, U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center, Madison, WI, and Dan Undersander, University of Wisconsin.

Oct. 1, 10:30 a.m. — “Non-Fiber Carbohydrates in Forages: Analyses and Cow Performance,” Mary Beth Hall, U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center.

Oct. 1, 1:30 p.m. — “Bag Silage: Losses and Density Determinations,” Brian Holmes, University of Wisconsin, and Richard Muck, U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center.

Oct. 2, 10:30 a.m. — “Evaluating Alfalfa and Corn Silage: Measuring Particle Size and Digestibility,” Mike Hutjens, University of Illinois.

Oct. 2, 1:30 p.m. — “Buying and Selling Forages to Dairy Operations,” Ron Tombaugh, Dart Hay Co., Streator, IL.
