Several hundred people are expected to attend the 2006 Western Alfalfa & Forage Conference, Dec.11-13 in Reno, NV.

The event will begin with a tour of agricultural and tourist sites in Nevada, followed by two days of presentations by university and USDA experts.

Topics scheduled for Dec. 12 include: trends in the dairy and forage markets, hay prices and trends, water issues, avoiding weed resistance and weed shifts in Roundup Ready alfalfa, and weed, insect and rodent control.

Dec. 13 topics will include: alfalfa establishment, biotech crops, cutting strategies, risk management, calculating custom rates and estate planning.
