Purdue University Extension's 2011 Forage Day is scheduled for June 14 at the Southern Indiana Purdue Agricultural Center near Dubois. This year, the forage day is being held in conjunction with the American Forage and Grassland Council Annual Conference And Hay Tour, scheduled for June 12-15 in French Lick.
The Purdue event will feature educational workshops and new equipment field demonstrations. Presentation topics will include the past, present and future of hay harvesting equipment and matching equipment to harvest conditions to make high-quality forage. Side-by-side demonstrations of mowers, tedders, rakes, balers, wrappers and other equipment have been designed to show producers how machines run when put into a field under less-than-ideal conditions.
Registration cost is $30 for the Hay Tour and $10 for those who want only to see equipment demonstrations. No advance registration is required.
