The baled hay contest deadline for the Routt County Fair in Hayden, CO is Aug. 1.

The contest is based solely on a chemical analysis of the hay.

Contest rules require that the hay needs to have been grown in the 2014. Classes include first cutting alfalfa, second or third cutting alfalfa, irrigated grass and dryland grass.

Results will be posted during the fair, Aug. 14-17, and entrants will receive a copy of the test results. Entry fee is $30 per sample. The first-place winner receives his or her entry fee back.

Contact the CSU Routt County Extension Office at 970-879-0825 to set up a time for an Extension agent to come take a hay sample.
