My name is Alexander Christensen and I've been in the forage industry since 2008 with the start-up business Southeast Hay Distributors Inc. Born in Saint Louis, MO, I spent my earlier years in the midwest before moving to Florida in the mid 90's. In high school, I played polo in Wellington, FL and participated in the interscholastic polo league which gave me the opportunity to travel the USA for competition. Following high school, I enrolled at Palm Beach Atlantic University and also worked in the construction industry, passing my Florida state General Contractors Exam in early 2008. After seeing a demand for specialized equine building products in the construction industry, I positioned myself in the high-end equine building market of Wellington, FL, focusing on flooring products. Later that year, my father Duane, and I founded Southeast Hay, which, at the time, was located in Wellington, FL., commonly referred to as the "Show Jumping Capital of the World"; Wellington continues to be a stronghold for our company's success. In the past five years, I've helped with strategic business development by placing emphasis on the necessity for international presence of our brand, establishing sales outlets in new territories, and of course, setting stringent quality control standards. To date, our business has served eight countries around and we continue to expand by offering new opportunities to buyers around the globe through trade financing and credit insurance. In 2013, our business relocated to a CSX rail-served facility in the downtown West Palm Beach, FL area which has accommodated the need for expanded warehousing and distribution proportionate to that of our exponential growth in annual revenue. I remain committed supporting the forage industry years to come and continue to emphasize the importance of educating our buyers and those in our industry of the critical underlying role forage place in the world economic outlook.
