The 2017 GrassWorks Grazing Conference will be a celebration of 25 years of learning, networking, good local food, and fellowship. Planned for February 2 – 4 in Wisconsin Dells, this special 25th anniversary event will feature not only an outstanding line up of speakers but also door prizes, contest, an ice cream social, and even a birthday cake! Visit www.grassworks.org for details on speakers and activities.
GrassWorks is proud to announce our first annual Handy Hints Contest, patterned after the Handy Hints column in Hoard’s Dairyman Magazine. Everyone has a great do-it-yourself invention that makes your day’s work on the farm a little easier. Share yours at this years’ GrassWorks Conference and win a prize! Submissions will be posted and voted on during the conference and the winners will be announced at the “Handy Hints” session on Saturday afternoon. $100, $50, and $25 prizes for the top three ideas have been generously donated by Hoards Dairyman and Hay and Forage Grower Magazines. To submit your handy hint, send a short description and a photo along with your contact information to Laura Paine (firstname.lastname@example.org) or bring it along to the conference.
This year’s conference will feature more than 40 speakers on topics ranging from silvo-pasture, to grass-based dairy management, to the connection between the soil, plant and animal. Long-time grazing favorite Jim Gerrish will return to give multiple workshops and other keynoters include Tom Franzen and Joyce Turk.
Earlybird registration ends January 12. Conference registration includes workshops, general sessions and admission to the exhibit hall, as well as dinners, lunches, snacks and evening entertainment. For more information on registering, volunteering, exhibiting and other opportunities, you can visit the GrassWorks website at (www.grassworks.org).
