Year-round grazing and forage economics, fertility for pastures and hay production and selecting forage species will be among topics discussed at this year’s Illinois Forage Institute. It will take place on March 24 at the University of Illinois’ Dixon Springs Agricultural Center near Simpson.
Along with the educational program, the institute will feature the Illinois Forage Bowl, a youth quiz competition, the Illinois Forage Spokesperson Contest and commercial exhibits focusing on the forage industry.
The educational program is $15/person for Illinois Forage and Grassland Council members and $20 for each non-member. Pre-registration is due by March 11. The cost will increase to $20 and $25 after March 11 and at the door on March 24. Registration includes a noon meal and handout materials.
