More than $20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded in the 2010 World’s Forage Analysis Superbowl, set to culminate this fall at World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI.
Cash will be awarded to winners in six categories of the forage-quality contest: dairy hay, dairy haylage, commercial hay, baleage and standard and brown midrib corn silage. The winners of two quality counts awards – one in hay, haylage or baleage and one in corn silage – also will get cash.
Entries, each consisting of a 2-gallon haylage or corn silage sample or 25 lbs of hay, are sent to the AgSource Cooperative Services lab in Bonduel, WI. Hay and haylage samples must be grown on an entrant’s farm during the previous 12 months. Corn silage samples will be from the entrant’s 2009 crop.
The entry deadline is Aug. 13 for corn silage; Sept. 2 for hay, haylage and baleage. Download the rules and entry form or visit agsource.crinet.com or call AgSource Soil and Forage Division at 715-758-2178.
