With Rejuvra® herbicide now approved for use in California, Bayer Range and Pasture will help even more ranchers transform invasive grasses into high-quality forage. Rejuvra stops cheatgrass before it emerges, resulting in improved livestock performance and healthier rangeland that is less susceptible to wildfires.

“All of us at Bayer Range and Pasture are thrilled that Rejuvra is now available to ranchers in California,” said Justin Hossfeld, western range segment manager for Bayer Range and Pasture. “So many ranchers throughout the West are starting to achieve excellent results with this restorative solution. We look forward to helping ranchers in California protect their rangelands during this critical time.”

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, in 2021 alone, over 8,000 wildfires raged throughout the state, causing tragic loss. Cheatgrass is often a prime contributor to rangeland fires because it is very flammable and keeps the ecosystem in a constant state of drought. Cheatgrass time and again becomes the fuel that ignites and carries wildfires, destroying forage for livestock, degrading the environment and devastating communities. Ranchers can fight back by eliminating these invasive grasses with Rejuvra as wildfires are infrequent in a healthy rangeland system.

Unlike other products, Rejuvra, a preemergent herbicide, attacks cheatgrass with a unique mode of action that breaks the cycle of germination and future seed production. This means that one application can provide up to four years of protection. Real-world trials show Rejuvra can offer up to 3.5 times more perennial forage production* while reducing feed costs by $50-$100 per head and labor costs by $15-$25 per head.

“Rangeland is a rancher’s most important asset, and Rejuvra is a solution that can protect it unlike any other product on the market,” said Hossfeld. “It is vital to take care of our rangelands for the long term so future generations of ranchers can thrive.”
