Back to Our Roots: Managing Alfalfa for Yield & Environment, Optimizing Forage Quality to Maximize Milk Production, and Managing Silage Corn for High Yield and Quality are just a few of the many presentations offered at Midwest Forage Association’s (MFA) Tour de Forage held in locations throughout Minnesota on Monday through Wednesday, January 22-24. Dr. Joshua Gamble, research agronomist and agroecologist at the USDA-ARS St. Paul Plant Science Research Unit, will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. Dr. Gamble’s research focuses on sustainable intensification of dairy forage production systems; evaluating field-scale manure management, irrigation, and forage cropping practices to retain more C, N, and P on-farm; increase C and nutrient-use efficiency; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and nutrient delivery to waterways.

"MFA’s 2024 Tour de Forage features an outstanding lineup of regional forage experts who are eager to share their research with Minnesota’s forage and dairy farmers," said Beth Nelson, MFA President. “This year’s Tour de Forage event will give forage farmers the tools they need to make the coming year more profitable.”
