The environmental-protection group that filed the lawsuit leading to the injunction against Roundup Ready alfalfa seed sales may or may not try to keep it off the market, says one of its staff attorneys.
The Center For Food Safety's Zelig Golden says his organization will review the draft environmental impact statement when it's published before deciding if more legal action is needed.
“We'll definitely look it over and we'll submit comments,” says Golden. “If it's inadequate we'll let the USDA know. And if they fail to protect farmers like they did the first time, we'll file another lawsuit.”
While USDA has been pro-industry in the past, “It's a new presidential administration, it's a new secretary of agriculture and we're going to give them the benefit of the doubt until we have a reason to believe otherwise,” he adds.
