University of Illinois emeritus dairy specialist Mike Hutjens talks about two dairies and how they manage their operations to produce a high-quality, consistent forage. That, in turn, translates to more milk and more profit. The dairies are Bethany Valley Holsteins, owned by Ron Olson from Comstock, WI, and Gar-Lin Dairy Farms, owned by Dr. Dana Allen and her family, located near Eyota,MN. Olson and Allen made presentations at the 4-State Dairy Nutrition Conference in Dubuque, IA, last month.
