With stocks extremely tight in the aftermath of the 2011 drought, producing and purchasing quality hay is a hot topic in East Texas this spring. So much so that, when Texas AgriLife Extension announced a late-April training session, more producers wanted to sign up than could be accommodated.
As a result, Extension is offering another session on May 11. The workshop will take place at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Overton.
Transportation considerations, shipping rates, forage species differences, hay testing, storage-site selection and annual and perennial forage management and fertilization will be discussed.
The $60 registration cost includes lunch and break refreshments. Enrollment is limited to the first 50 to sign up. Click here to register; enter “hay” as the keyword.
