The Michigan State University CornPicker for silage Excel spreadsheet allows silage corn growers to calculate partial budgets showing how silage corn hybrid changes affect farm profits.
The program compares one hybrid to another, and calculations include only the costs and returns that change in response to the hybrids being compared. Input variables include data about the specific hybrids and the individual farm, as well as market information that varies over time. The output is an estimate of the profitability of one hybrid compared to another.
