Manitoba forage producers can learn more about making high-quality hay and silage, managing fields and forage testing and storing options at Hay and Silage Day 2014 on June 17. Sponsored by Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (MAFRD), the event will take place at the Friedensfeld Community Centre in Steinbach.

Harvesting high-quality hay, fertility for optimum alfalfa production and the economics of hay and silage storage will be discussed. In-field demonstrations on using the PEAQ method for measuring quality as well as on soil salinity, variety selection and leaf-to-stem ratios in alfalfa and hay-quality differences will also be offered.
