Popular CLAAS tedders and movers that were introduced in Europe earlier this spring will be rolling out to North American customers in time for first cuttings in 2025. An expanded DISCO mower line and three new, wider VOLTO tedders will provide greater hay processing capabilities for domestic producers.
VOLTO 1300 T/TS and VOLTO 1500 T/TS Tedders
The latest VOLTO tedders, the 1300 T and TS and 1500 T and TS, will provide the greatest working widths to date. These new high-performance tedders feature a new frame and chassis concept with optimal ground-contour following and soil protection, simple operation and folding geometry, optimized rotor guidance and a completely re-engineered drive. Thanks to the new frame concept, both working widths are available in the standard Trailed “T” version as well as the “TS” version with innovative self-steering chassis.
Key features of the VOLTO 1300 T/TS and VOLTO 1500 T/TS include:
- Innovative chassis frame with Y-shaped axle beam: slender design, center of gravity close to the rotor frame on the chassis and maximum ground clearance when rotors are raised.
- TS versions with self-steering chassis in working position: no distortion between chassis and rotor frames, no damage to the swath caused by rotor wheels. Automatically steers straight ahead when rotor frames are raised.
- Large chassis wheels up to 500/55-20 and 3’ 5.5” (1,055 mm) diameter with dual function as guide wheels that are soil-friendly in the field and safe on the road.
- 12 (VOLTO 1300 T/TS) or 14 (VOLTO 1500 T/TS) rotors with 4’ 11” (1.50 m) diameter and six tine arms per rotor.
- Rotor frame with double-hinged arms for perfect ground-contour following even on uneven ground.
- MAX SPREAD crop flow with spreader arms angled back for a clean rake and optimal spread pattern.
- Strong, equal-angled tines with five windings and reliable tine loss protection.
- Raking height set centrally via crank handle, toolless adjustment of spreading angle (12/16 degrees).
- Completely redesigned PERMALINK drive for more power and less torque, reinforced finger clutches with larger bearings and new, encapsulated rotor drives with oil filling.
- Compact transport position: 10’ 9.5 " (3.29 m) transport height, < 9’ 10” (3.00 m) transport width and short transport length for optimal view and maneuverability.
- Very simple operation and folding mechanism: requires only one single-acting hydraulic spool valve (rotor lift) and one double-acting hydraulic spool valve (switch between transport and working position); plus 1x single-acting for optional edge-tedding crop guard.
DISCO Mowers
DISCO large-scale mowers have been making their mark in the forage harvesting sector on large farms and for contracting work for 25 years. To mark the anniversary year, CLAAS is launching four new mower-conditioner combinations in North America for 2025: the DISCO 9300 C COMFORT, DISCO 9300 RC COMFORT and DISCO 9300 C AS BUSINESS. They are also releasing a COMFORT version of the DISCO 1100. Key features include:
DISCO 9300 C COMFORT / DISCO 9300 RC COMFORT and DISCO 9300 CAS BUSINESS:
- Three new mower/conditioner models with 29’ 10” or 29’ 2” (9.10 or 8.9 m) working width (2 x 8 counter-rotating mower discs).
- Available with a standard tine conditioner “C”, a double-roller drive roller conditioner “RC” or tine conditioner with AUTO SWATHER “C AS” behind the conditioner to produce a single windrow behind the mower.
- DISCO 9300 C/RC COMFORT models are a fixed width 29’ 10” or 29’ 2” (9.10 or 8.9 m) working width) rear mower with conditioners.
- DISCO 9300 C AS is a fixed width 29’ 10” or 29’ 2” (9.10 or 8.9 m) working width mower/conditioner with AUTO SWATHER.
- Hardox-reinforced conditioner plates for increased resistance and longer service life.
- Fast-acting hydraulic NON-STOP collision protection whereby the arm pivots up and over obstacles.
- Longer swathing plates for particularly narrow swaths available for RC models.
- COMFORT hydraulics with direct control of arms and load-sensing operation for ACTIVE FLOAT ground pressure control, individual lift and optional folding protective covers on DISCO 9300 C/RC models.
DISCO 1100 COMFORT
- Same geometry as the popular DISCO 1100 TREND model, in a new mid-range package.
- Genuine 35’ 5” to 31’ 2” (10.80 m to 9.5 m) working width (2 x 9 counter-rotating mower discs) for markets with 11’ 2” (3.40 m) front mowers.
- Hydraulic telescopic arms with wide adjustment range for optimal overlap on tight bends or slopes.
- COMFORT hydraulics with direct control of arms and load-sensing operation for ACTIVE FLOAT ground pressure control.
“As a world leader in hay equipment for that last 25 years, it’s important we continue to innovate these tools to provide operators the very latest in productivity, efficiency and durability,” said Mark Scuffham, Product Manager for CLAAS of America. “These machines continue to build on the past knowledge of we have gained from running and testing in North America and around the world. We are excited to bring these latest innovations to the North American market in 2025, adding to our lineup of ever-expanding hay tools line.”
