An Alfalfa Production Field Day is slated for July 14 at the Armuchee Valley Community Center, LaFayette, GA.
Walker County Extension is planning the event, which will start at 10:30 a.m.
In an area known for its bermudagrass production, Dennis Hancock, University of Georgia Extension forage specialist, will discuss basic production practices and management guidelines for growing alfalfa successfully. A question-and-answer session with current and potential alfalfa growers also will be conducted.
Then those in attendance will tour a nearby alfalfa field that was interseeded into bermudagrass eight years ago. For more information, visit our story, “Interseeding Alfalfa Into Bermudagrass.”
The event, which includes lunch, is free but RSVPs are requested. Call the Walker County Extension office at 706-638-2548 by July 11 to register. For more information, visit the University of Georgia website.
