Grazing expert Jim Gerrish will headline the Feb. 5 Southern Indiana Grazing Conference at the Simon J. Graber Community Building near Odon, IN.

Gerrish, now an independent grazing lands consultant, offers a wealth of beef-forage systems knowledge after serving 25 years with the University of Missouri. He will speak on grazing basics over four sessions throughout the day.

Kathy Voth, co-author of a popular online newsletter called On Pasture, will make two presentations, one on training animals to eat weeds and the other on why animals eat what they eat. Voth offers educational and research experience from serving 12 years with the Bureau of Land Management. She is noted for inventing a method for training cows to eat weeds.

Registration by Jan. 24 will be $30/person; after that date, it will increase to $40/person. For an additional $20/person, the first 25 registrants can meet the speakers the night before the conference. For details, call the Davies County SWCD at 812-254-4780, extension 3.
