The Midwest Forage Association is hosting a Sept. 4 listening session related to the implementation of crop insurance for alfalfa. Alfalfa crop insurance language was added to the recently approved Farm Bill and federal officials working out the details are gathering input from farmers.
The listening session follows a 9:45 a.m. presentation by Mark Stephenson, University of Wisconsin Extension dairy policy specialist, on the new Dairy Margin Protection Program. The two-hour gathering will be at the Millhome Supper Club, Kiel, WI.
There is no fee to attend, but pre-registration is required by Aug. 28. Lunch will be available to those who RSVP and participate in the listening session. Contact the Manitowoc County UW-Extension Office at 920-683-4175.
