With more than $22,000 in prize money at stake in the upcoming World Forage Analysis Superbowl, it’d be a shame to miss entry deadlines, say contest organizers.
Growers must enter their standard and brown midrib corn silage samples by Aug. 14 and hay, commercial hay, grass hay, haylage and baleage samples by Sept. 4.
The entry fee is $25 per sample, which includes a complete nutritional analysis of forage samples. Participants can submit multiple samples, and finalists will be notified in September.
Cash prizes will be awarded during the Mycogen Seeds Forage Superbowl Luncheon on Oct. 1 during World Dairy Expo. The Expo is slated for Sept. 30-Oct. 4 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, WI.
Each category winner, including the Quality Counts awards for silage and hay/haylage, will receive $1,500. Additional cash prizes will be awarded to the Grand Champion Forage, First-Time Entrant winner and second- through fourth-place winners in each category.
Winning entries will be on display in the Arena Building.
The Superbowl competition is organized in a partnership among Hay & Forage Grower, Dairyland Laboratories, Inc., DairyBusiness Communications, the U.S. Dairy Forage Research Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison and World Dairy Expo.
