Utilizing legumes to maximize forage availability in pastures, drought management and weed control options will be among topics at the Alabama Forage and Grassland Conference 2013. It is scheduled for Dec. 12 at Guntersville State Park in Guntersville.
The conference title is “Forages: Past, Present, Future.” Trade exhibits will also be a part of the event.
Registration cost, including lunch, will cost $55/person before Nov. 12. After that date, the cost will be $75/person.
A pre-conference session will be held Dec. 11 at the Sand Mountain Research & Extension Center in nearby Crossville. Participants will view the center’s current forage research and be able to visit one-on-one with scientists involved with the projects. A highlight will be a forage crop garden being developed to showcase various forage grasses and legumes grown in Alabama. The cost of the pre-conference tour will be $10. See a conference brochure.
