The first self-propelled merger, manufactured by Oxbo International Corp., will be available for limited sales in the U.S. this year. With front-mounted pickup heads, the 34’ Oxbo 4334 offers improved forage quality by never running over the crop, according to company officials. It has a 30-mph road speed and pickup heads fold to a 10’ transport width in less than 20 seconds.
The same patented continuous pickup and crop flow used in Oxbo’s tow-behind models has been incorporated into the 4334.
Hesston by Massey Ferguson introduces its WR9700 Series Self-Propelled Windrower, boasting an exclusive, easy-to-use C100 Monitor system that controls nearly every aspect of the windrower for exceptional operating precision and field efficiency, say company officials.
The models meet Tier 4-interim emissions compliance with Agco Power engines with e3 clean-air technology. According to Hesston, it’s the first manufacturer in the industry to develop a machine that operates all hydraulic, engine and drive functions via an on-board computer terminal.
The largest model, WR9770, features a disc header and offers 220-plus hp, providing the power to work in heavy crop conditions.
The Krone EasyCut 2801 CV mower-conditioner, with an 8’11” cutting width, has a new, heavy-built frame and flotation design. Other new features include a gearbox oil flow design for optimum lubrication of bearings and covers on the side of the cutterbar.
John Deere’s Triple-Mounted Mower-Conditioner combines a 131 Front-Mount Mower-Conditioner with a Model 388 Twin Rear-Mount Mower-Conditioner to cut a swath more than 28’ wide in a single pass. Transport width is 10’2”. The machine requires a tractor with greater than 190 rear pto hp and equipped with front hitch and 1,000 rpm pto.
Sporting a 29’10” working width, the MM 900 Merge Maxx power merger from Kuhn North America has three independently floating pickup heads that follow ground contours for clean pickup.
The gentle action of the pickups and belts, coupled with the merger’s patented adjustable windguard system, reduces leaf loss and deposits the crop into fluffy, uniform windrows for even drying.
