Baler and wrapper equipment demonstrations and research plot tours are just part of the Forage Field Day to be held this Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Virginia Tech Research Farm in Glade Spring.

Two presentations will discuss how mowing height affects hay crop second growth and what is the proper moisture content for good baleage.

Another session will focus on weed control in hayfields and pastures. Results from a nitrogen-application rate and grass-hay yield experiment conducted by the research farm last year will also be looked at.

The free program begins at 4:30 p.m. and includes supper. Call Phil Blevins, Washington County Extension agent, at 276-676-6309 or email if you plan to attend.
