Bermudagrass stem maggot, a new invasive pest found across much of the southeastern U.S., will be the subject of a Feb. 6 webinar sponsored by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES).

University of Georgia Extension entomologist William Hudson and forage specialist Dennis Hancock will tell forage and cattle producers why they need to be on the alert for the maggot. They’ll also provide research-based information on what is known about the insect’s biology and management. Questions can be submitted by email during the webinar, which starts at 10 a.m.

To learn how to connect to a live stream of the webinar, go to the events page of the ACES website. The webinar will be recorded and can be viewed after Feb. 6.
