Hay-harvesting equipment demonstrations, educational presentations and a variety of exhibits will be featured at the 2010 Southeastern Ohio Hay Day, set for Thursday, June 17, at Ohio State University’s Eastern Agricultural Research Station in Belle Valley. Sponsored by Ohio State Extension and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, the free event will be held from 4 to 8:30 p.m.

New this year are presentations on biofuel grasses and warm-season grass production, says Clif Little, Ohio State Extension educator. Larry Merry, Belmont County Port Authority, will be on hand to discuss First Energy's plans to use biomass to generate electricity at its R.E. Burger Plant by 2013. Little will also talk about production of switchgrass, how to establish it and the costs to produce and pelletize it.
