Sugarbeets: A Crop For Salty SoilsJul 19, 2014
Sugarbeets grow well in salt-tolerant soils and have yielded as much as 40 tons/acre on North Dakota State University (NDSU) research plots at the Carrington Research Extension Center. They also work well as beef-cow feed, offering gains equal to those achieved with corn silage. Animal scientist Vern Anderson sees the beets offer potential as dairy feed, as well.
